How to stop
procrastinating:
Most people procrastinate occasionally and especially when
it comes to tackling an unpleasant task. Unfortunately
procrastination only intensifies internal pressure, out-of
control feelings and increased levels of stress and
overwhelm.
Here are some steps to overcoming
procrastination:
-
When you find yourself procrastinating, ask the
question: “why”?
-
Identify the tasks you are avoiding and take note of the
things you choose to deal with instead.
-
Put
one of those tasks you’ve been avoiding on top of your
daily list and tackle it first thing in the morning.
Don’t allow yourself to put it off because you’re
‘drowning’ in urgent matters. There will always be
urgent matters!
-
Use
the energy created by your internal pressure to
intensify your focus on the task.
-
Make this a daily habit and don’t deviate from it unless
the company is on fire.
-
Enjoy the sense of achievement once you’ve completed
this task over which you had procrastinated.
-
Marvel at how the sense of relaxation, that spreads
through your body as a healthy by-product of the sense
of achievement, enables you to deal far more efficiently
and effectively with all other tasks.
If you follow these
steps diligently you will eventually discover that
procrastination has become an issue of your past.
