Adoption
Whilst the act of adoption involves
a number of people, it primarily
affects the following three groups
of people (also known as the
Adoption Triad):
1. The birth parent(s) of the child
who is placed for adoption
2. The adoptive parents (and family)
3. The adoptee (the child who has
been placed for adoption)
Anxiety and
Depression
Research suggests that approximately 1 in 10
people will suffer from an anxiety disorder at
some stage in their lives and approximately 1 in
4 women and 1 in 6 men will experience
depression at some stage in their lives. Why
these illnesses have become so all-pervasive is
a question to which no-one has a conclusive
answer at this point. It is clear, however, that
they are not related to a person's intellect,
capabilities or social status.
Conflict
Whether we
like it or not, conflict is very much part of life. It can occur with
your partner, your child/ren, your parents, your boss, your employees,
your friends, your relatives or any other person with whom you come in
contact. Often, it is not the fact that conflict occurs that is the
problem, but how you deal with it.
Stress
Overwhelmed, agitated, unable to cope? Who isn't all too
familiar with these feelings?
I am sure that there isn't an adult in the Western World who
doesn't feel stress, at least on occasion.
So, what do we get stressed about?
Our job, family relationships, Christmas, financial
constraints, sitting in the banked-up traffic when we should
be at work, an illness, fearing the worst and so on…….
